Experimenting with Episodes

I’m still having such a great time serializing my new/old companion novel I mentioned in previous posts that I decided to try a warm-up practice using Pearl Fields and the Oregon Meltdown.

It may seem strange to post separate episodes of a longer sample I’ve been including as a page on this website for a few months now—especially since the full novel is available on Amazon & Kindle Unlimited. However, I like to think the process of recasting a story in episodes has already proved beneficial for my mindset, so here goes nothing.

The link to the right of (or below) the image above will take you to the Episodes page.

I’m also including a synopsis below in case you’re interested.

Keep you posted.

Pearl Fields and the Oregon Meltdown Oregon

Before the Meltdown the thought of being tried for any crime, let alone gunrunning, never crossed her mind. After all, even the prosecutor had to admit in court that until four years ago Pearl was a pillar of the community with a spotless record.

So how did that same upstanding citizen turn into a gritty river merchant traveling solo in a drift boat up and down the Alsea through what still amounts to a war zone? And after sidestepping trouble at almost every turn year after year, how did she wind up languishing on death row for the past three months while a judge decides her fate?

As it turns out, in those parts of Oregon still in the shadow of the Meltdown, all bets are off.

Now she faces her toughest challenge yet—talking her way out of being sentenced to follow scores of others hauled up that rickety flight of stairs to the gallows looming in her line of sight just outside the cellblock window.
