Deciding on a release date for Core Haven, my newest novel, should be fairly straightforward, right? I mean, it’s not like I’m working on a 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle I bought at a garage sale without the original box or a guarantee that a few pieces weren’t missing.
It’s just a matter of:
- Looking at a calendar
- Allowing plenty of time for last-minute revisions
- Going through the final checkoff list
- Picking a date
- Celebrating.
But wait…what about the ARCs (advanced reader copies)? And the Goodreads Giveaway? And the promos? And that family reunion coming up? And those early spring chores? And…?
No worries, I remind myself, I can just add specific commitments to the calendar & move the launch date accordingly. That’s one of my favorite parts about being an independent author. At the end of the day, any deadlines are all my own.
That’s why if I wanted to release Core Haven next week, why I could just—OK, there’s no way in hell that’s happening, but you get the picture.
Keep you posted.

My completed serialized companion novel, Core Haven, is available now on Kindle Vella till Amazon pulls the plug in February—if you happen to have 330 KV tokens burning a hole in your digital pocket. Otherwise you’ll have to wait till early April when I launch it as an ebook on the Kindle Store.
My first self-published novel, Pearl Fields and the Oregon Meltdown, is currently available on the Kindle Store & Kindle Unlimited.
