Given the maelstrom swirling around us here of late, I started questioning my resolve to post about my own publishing journey during the next few months. Yesterday the thought of even mentioning how the last polishing phase of my newest novel is going suddenly seemed trite and self-indulgent.
Fortunately before dawn this morning, I found comfort in framing my concern as another way of opening my eyes in what William Stafford called “a vault that unlocks as fast and as far as your thought can run.”
So here I am, circling back around to my original goal of writing about my author’s trek with a bit more enthusiasm.
Rest assured, you won’t need to be on the lookout for sagely author tidbits to take note of or cringe over in this or any of my other posts. Since starting down this road, I’ve stood by my lifelong rule to resist offering unsolicited advice at all costs. (Not that I’d ever pass judgment on those who do so since they can provide a valuable service to plenty of independent authors such as myself.)
That said, whenever anybody messages me directly for my take on a particular aspect of my publishing journey, I do my level best to give an honest, thorough reply.
Till next time.
Drew
