Confessions of a Checkoff List Devotee

Just spent a couple wonderful hours setting up this, that, & the other thing for the upcoming release of Core Haven, the companion novel I’ve been ballyhooing about. I know, I know…some readers will no doubt suggest I reframe self-promotion in a more positive light & drop my use of questionable words like ballyhoo.
But in all honesty, anytime I delve into the book promo morass I feel like I’m hanging out in Tartarus cheering on Sisyphus. (Notice I’m on the sideline not doing any of the heavy lifting.)
Anyway, as far as list making goes, here’s a rendition of my most recent checklist mashup from Clickup & Scrivener. And the best part? The proliferation of the coveted mark ✅ for said & done, finalized, kaput, whatever descriptor you choose.
- Yesterday
- upload Core Haven to Kindle Store ✅
- check, recheck, & verify everything a few dozen times ✅
- do a dorky happy dance more than once ✅
- Today
- let test pilots know preorder’s up & running ✅
- set up Goodreads Giveaway ✅
- clean up book blurb ✅
You might notice “post on WordPress” isn’t on that list. That’s because one of my favorite parts of having an author website is writing a piece like this, ignoring it for a bit, proofreading for a fraction of my usual time, then posting it the same day like I’m about to do.
Now I can relax back into organizing my lists for tomorrow & Wednesday in preparation for another couple rounds of rock rolling.
Till next time.
Drew
My companion novel, Core Haven, is set for release on July 31, 2025. Here’s how to preorder it link on Amazon. LINK

I invite you to check out Lee Hall’s excellent video review, especially the first book he includes on his short list of memorable indie reads—uh-huh, that would be Pearl Fields and the Oregon Meltdown.
My first self-published novel, Pearl Fields and the Oregon Meltdown, is currently available on the Kindle Store & Kindle Unlimited.
