Noise Shields Up

Gotta love cold emails about as much as cold calls, right? Out of the blue. Suspicious. Amazingly detailed—in this case, about both my novels, one of which hasn’t yet seen the light of day except for the first two chapters as a sample.

I suppose I could view the increased amount of such invasive traffic as evidence that my homegrown promo campaign is spreading the word hither & yon about Core Haven, my upcoming release on July 31st.

What else could explain the flurry of AI-generated activity concerning the promotion of Pearl Fields and the Oregon Meltdown, a novel I published two & a half years ago, instead of its new release companion novel?

The specific ChatGPT details about that particular book are impressive, if not clunky. I have to admit, I found myself drawn to the first couple emails since they were fairly convincing when it came to specifics. Of course, my rational side won the day, & I’m back to filtering out the noise a bit more.

Meanwhile, I’m keeping an eye on the preorder tally for Core Haven, settling into a comfortable rhythm with BookBub ads, scheduling a couple one-day promos, monitoring my BookFunnel group promo, & polishing the paperback versions of both novels to update on Amazon in the next few days.

Who says the life of a self-publishing author is boring?

Keep you posted.

I invite you to check out Lee Hall’s excellent video review, especially the first book he includes on his short list of memorable indie reads—uh-huh, that would be Pearl Fields and the Oregon Meltdown.

My first self-published novel, Pearl Fields and the Oregon Meltdown, is currently available on the Kindle Store & Kindle Unlimited.
