Working with Skye & the Silent Book Club Melbourne has been a wonderful experience. Given the ups & downs I’ve experienced with various & sundry groups & individuals through emails, ads, Reedsy, and so on, I feel comfortable sharing the outcome of my invitation to allow Core Haven: Hope Amid the Ruins to be submitted.
Prepping for my upcoming promo stack (Dec 5th-8th) has been a stretch, especially since I don’t have a lot of contacts to draw on for who’s a reliable vendor & who isn’t.
Another writer recommended this particular book club, so I rolled the dice & managed to hit a lucky number on my first & only interaction with a book club.
It looks like the discussion went well (at least no one from that group mentioned finding a typo or plot hole—whew).
They also shared the visuals they made for use by their members so I’m including those below.
OK, one last thing—a confession. I am now on TikTok and have a YouTube channel. Yeah, I know, I’m getting carried away. But hell, that’s what writing is all about.
Here’s a recent reel I posted onto both.
Till next time.
Drew

I invite you to check out Lee Hall’s excellent video review, especially the first book he includes on his short list of memorable indie reads—uh-huh, that would be Pearl Fields and the Oregon Meltdown.
My first self-published novel, Pearl Fields and the Oregon Meltdown, is currently available on the Kindle Store & Kindle Unlimited.

My completed companion novel, Core Haven, was released on July 31st, 2025. Available now.
