Shout-out

This isn’t the first time I’ve given a shout-out to Lee Hall for the various & sundry ways he supports indie authors. I mean, the guy not only blogs, publishes his own novels, writes reviews of other indie books on his website, & shares snippets of wisdom & support on social media, but also maintains a great resource site & actively reviews indie books on his YouTube channel (I’ll put the links below). Oh yeah, & he’s a playwright to boot.

OK, for the sake of transparency, he was the first reviewer of my first published novel (Pearl Fields and the Oregon Meltdown), then went on to include it in his list of indie novels that impacted him most, wrote a review of my second novel, Core Haven: Hope Amid the Ruins, included it in his list of “Best Books I Have Read in 2025,” & posted it on his YouTube channel.

But even though I obviously appreciate Lee’s reviews of my own work, what impresses me most about him is that I’m only one of many indie authors who could write similar accolades about Lee’s contributions to the indie author world. I can’t help but think that he’s given impetus to many other reviewers, readers, & writers who are themselves avid supporters of authors who choose this difficult, rewarding path of sharing our stories with book lovers without the extraordinary benefits the traditional publishing world offers its chosen few.

Another aspect about Lee that I appreciate is his down-to-earth nature. Some writers/reviewers in his position might be inclined to give advice as if it were the final word on the subject. But having read many of his articles, as well as his helpful Consistent Creative Content, I can attest to his open, engaging attitude toward the sometimes daunting gyrations required to survive in the publishing world.

So if you’re an independent author, I highly recommend checking out any & all of his resource materials.

If you’re a reader, I also recommend his thorough reviews of numerous books available on his website, not to mention his own well-crafted novels.

Thanks for all you do, Lee.

Keep you posted.

Drew

P.S. I’m happy to report that at the time of my writing this post, Core Haven: Hope Amid the Ruins has maintained its 4.8 out of 5 with 51 global ratings & 49 customer reviews on Amazon, along with 4.62 out of 5 with 133 ratings & 121 reviews on Goodreads. Not too shabby, right?

P.S.S. If by chance you’re interested in reading and thoughtfully reviewing either of my two companion novels, please see the Amazon links below. (And thanks so much in advance!)

I invite you to check out Lee Hall’s excellent video review, especially the first book he includes on his short list of memorable indie reads—uh-huh, that would be Pearl Fields and the Oregon Meltdown.

My first self-published novel, Pearl Fields and the Oregon Meltdown, is currently available on the Kindle Store & Kindle Unlimited.
